The graphic work "Liberating Mode" by Ivo Pecov as part of the XXV anniversary exhibition of the artists from the "Izgrev" district in Sofia

XXV anniversary exhibition of artists from "Izgrev" district 2020  - "The sunrise of creativity - a quarter of a century" was officially opened on November 4 at 6 pm in the building of Interpred -  gallery Art - Place ("Izgrev", Blvd. "Dragan Tsankov" 36, metro station "Joliot Curie").

The exhibition was organized by the Municipality of Izgrev district, under the patronage of the Mayor Dr. Delyan Georgiev, and was carried out with the assistance of the Union of Bulgarian Artists and Interpred - WTC Sofia AD.

"liberating Mode" was showed as part of the general selection of the mentioned group exhibition, in the period between November 4 and 27, 2020, until when the exhibition lasted. This graphic, made in drypoint technique, is in the spirit of the previously presented by Ivo Pecov painting exhibition from 2020:

The graphic artwork  "Liberating mode" is an interpretation of the image from the terracotta plate from Vinica (Macedonia), dating from the VI - VII century. The early Christian work and the presented Old Testament theme "Daniel among the lions" is placed inside a broken modern road sign prohibiting movement.Against the background of our modern isolation due to COVID-19 and the cessation of the normal rhythm of life, this work seeks a way of liberation through the ancient prayer posture of the central figure. The work combines modernity and ancient human values. Is it possible for our modernity to be liberated by ancient means, such as prayer, and is antiquity as far away as we think?
