Ivo Pecov was born on March 17th 1980 in Kocani, Republic of Macedonia.
Until the graduation of primary school, he lives in Macedonian town of Vinica. In 1999 he graduated from the High School of Art in Skopje, in the department of Graphics. He continued his academic education at the National Academy of Fine Arts in Sofia, Republic of Bulgaria, at the department of Graphics, where he received his master's degree in 2005. In 2010 he successfully defended his doctoral dissertation at the same academy, in the department of Mural painting. The topic of his dissertation is “Contemporary icon painting activity in Republic of Macedonia (1958 – 2008)”.
As an artist he is active with many group exhibitions in different cities in Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Portugal, Spain, Italy. He has exhibited his works at 19 solo exhibitions in Macedonia, Bulgaria, Romania, Portugal and Germany. He is a participant of numerous international art workshops.
In the year of 2005, together with his colleagues from North Macedonia, he participates in founding the Association of the artists UM from Vinica.
Since 2014, he is the initiator and organizer of the art project "Connection" of the Cultural Center of North Macedonia in Sofia, through which numerous group exhibitions of important Macedonian and Bulgarian authors were presented in Bulgaria and North Macedonia.
He is the curator of the exhibitions: "Challenges and Directions" 2021,"Freedom ?!" 2022, "Meeting of a Tenth Kind" 2023 and "In Front of the Screen" 2024 in which contemporary Macedonian and Bulgarian art is presented, from the project "Connection" of the Cultural Center of North Macedonia. The exhibitions are realized in different cities of Bulgaria and North Macedonia. He is also the curator of the exhibition "Painting of the Art Academy in Stip" in 2024.
He has published in scientific journals, where he has worked on issues of aesthetics and fine art.
His works are owned by well-known social figures in North Macedonia and Bulgaria, as well as the Prime Minister and Presidents of these two countries.
Ivo Pecov is an artist, curator and theorist of visual arts based in Sofia, Bulgaria.
He works at the Cultural and Information Center of North Macedonia in Sofia, as editor of the program for realization of cultural events, and at the Art Academy, UGD - Stip, North Macedonia, as Associate professor.
